Job Description:

Sewell Wallis is looking for a qualified, hands‑on Financial Controller to join a commercial property business based in East Ridings of Yorkshire, near Pocklington. The role involves building a finance team from the ground up and managing day‑to‑day finance functions for a company with an annual turnover of approximately £35 million.

What will you be doing?

  • Monthly management accounts, commentary, and presentation of the information to the senior team.
  • Budgets and forecasting.
  • Cash flow management.
  • Statutory reporting.
  • Invoice processing (initially, before the team is fully established).
  • Development of a finance team from scratch.
  • Basic payroll.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Qualified Accountant – CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
  • Hands‑on approach to management and problem solving.
  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal, enjoying collaboration within a lively team.
  • Experience leading day‑to‑day finance functions.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, growing business.
  • Capability to create a finance team from scratch.
