Job description
St Leger Homes is a customer focused social housing provider that manages 20,000 homes on behalf of Doncaster Council. This role is a results‑driven leadership position that focuses on maximizing rent collection and delivering effective arrears recovery. You will lead a high‑performing income management service, ensuring robust procedures, timely interventions and proportionate enforcement action. You will engage at both operational and strategic levels with customers, colleagues, partners and statutory agencies to remove payment barriers and improve rent collection performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the income management service and ensuring the team follows robust procedures.
- Progressing enforcement action proportionately and consistently, giving tenants reasonable opportunities to resolve arrears.
- Developing and maintaining clear pathways for tenants to resolve arrears and sustain tenancy before formal action.
- Coaching the team, providing coaching, performance management and developing capabilities for consistent casework.
- Collaborating with teams across St Leger Homes and statutory partners to support financially excluded tenants.
- Using data analysis and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and evidence‑based decision making.
About You
- Excellent communication skills, engaging confidently with tenants, staff and partners
- Strong leadership experience, motivating and managing a large, fast‑paced team
- Proven ability to deliver change and lead others through it
- Technical knowledge of welfare benefits, income maximisation and personal finance
- Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for tenants, especially those facing financial hardship
- Strong organisational and written skills, including interpreting and presenting statistical information clearly
- Ability to analyze arrears trends, performance data and casework quality to drive continuous improvement
- Experience in managing complex or high‑risk arrears cases, including court action, evictions and multi‑agency working, while maintaining a firm but fair approach
