To provide high quality nursing care and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs for patients with a learning disability across Black Country Healthcare.
Due to the nature of the service there may be a need to work in other wards/areas including mental health acute wards so there is a need to be flexible around which environment you will work.
Main duties of the job
To carry out all appropriate care interventions and assume the role of nurse-in-charge or care lead as required.
To supervise junior staff, including students
To apply enhanced knowledge, skills, experience and leadership appropriate to the care setting
To play an active part in providing up to date, research nursing based care to patients with learning disabilities, which improves lives and provides a positive experience for patients.

Job responsibilities
To act as a team leader in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programme of care either in the community or inpatient services.
To take charge of Unit or equivalent, as required

To have awareness of current research in learning disabilities.
To participate in programmes of education for permanent staff and students.
Assist patients in exercising choice and self-determination throughout their daily lives, to achieve their rights as individuals and maintain relationships with family.
To work in co-operation with the qualified staff and other team members in the daily provision of the service.
To act at all times in a manner that enhances the reputation of the service, particularly
Person Specification
- NMC registration
- Experience of working in inpatient
- Experience of working with patients with a learning disability
- Experience of working in the community
