The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our passionate and dedicated surgical nursing team within Ward 24, a 30‑beded ward based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality patient‑centred care within a busy surgical environment. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • This is a full‑time post working 30 hours per week
  • The role requires flexible working across day and night shift rotations, including weekend working.
  • Permanent position
  • You will be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital

Key Responsibilities

As part of the team, you will be responsible for the assessment, delivery and supervision of patient care within the ward environment. You will assess patients’ needs and implement and evaluate evidence‑based programmes of care, ensuring high standards of clinical care are maintained.

You will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care as part of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality care to patients within the ward environment. The role requires the ability to work independently using your own initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of the integrated team.

You will work within a fast‑paced and dynamic clinical setting and should demonstrate a flexible, forward‑thinking approach to care delivery. Opportunities will be available to develop your clinical skills and knowledge across a diverse range of surgical patients, with support and guidance provided for newly qualified nurses and those new to the ward or department.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to do the job

  • You should possess excellent communication and decision‑making skills, alongside evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC.
  • Sound clinical assessment skills and the ability to implement and evaluate evidence‑based care are also required.
