Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Gastroenterology

We are looking for a dynamic nurse who wants to succeed and can work under pressure and deliver world class care to patients.
This is a brilliant opportunity for experienced specialist nurse to extend their skill set and train to be an Advanced Nurse practitioner. Working on the Gastroenterology wards, you will gain new skills, working closely with Consultants and complete the Nurse prescribing course.
Main duties of the job
- To improve the experience and outcomes of care for the patients by taking the lead in investigations and treatments prescribed.
- To provide a consistent and personalised service by ensuring that the patient’s receive the best care, in the best place from the best person or team.
- To provide social, emotional, and psychological support for patient’s from referral and throughout their treatment.
- To deliver expert specialist evidence based care including development, assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating programmes of evidence based nursing care for a defined caseload.
- To make appropriate referral to Consultants/other specialist members of the multidisciplinary team in primary, secondary or tertiary care settings.
- To be aware of Risk management issues both locally and nationally and develop strategies to address identified issues.
Job responsibilities
- Manage admission process for patients attending day case.
- Meet objectives set out by Gastroenterology Care group.
- Audit and research.
- Effective use of physical and financial resources.
- Specialist assessment of patient’s needs, plan implement and evaluate care delivery using advanced knowledge and clinical skills.
Qualifications
- Clinical Professional Qualification. Degree level with appropriate registration.
- MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) or started the MSc ACP pathway/programme and committed to completing within an agreed time frame: Note: Post holder will be in a training post (Annex 21) until evidence of completion of MSc ACP is provided.
- Teaching and assessing qualification.
- Prescriber.
- Evidence of participation in audit and research.

- Demonstrable relevant experience within the speciality.
- Evidence of effective management.
- Evidence of effective leadership skills.
- Evidence of staff development.
- Evidence of change management.
- Evidence of application of current clinical service issues and developments.
Knowledge
- Understanding and application of healthcare governance.
