Job overview
The post holder will work alongside existing prostate Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), collaboratively providing a prostate diagnostic service, meeting national targets and standards. They will role‑model best practice, supervise clinical care, deliver expert patient care for suspected cancer, and perform trans‑perineal prostate biopsies under local anaesthetic.

Deliver a nurse‑led, localised trans‑perineal prostate service, including triage, requesting and coordination of diagnostic tests in line with attached job description.

The primary purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive care to patients, including assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an advanced practice framework. The role requires advanced decision‑making, autonomy and complex problem solving across a range of settings.
Person specification
Educational requirements
- Advanced assessment skills for non‑medical practitioners or willingness to undertake
- Non‑medical prescribing or willingness to undertake
- Masters in advanced practice or equivalent
Clinical practice
- Experience in performing trans‑perineal biopsies
- Extensive experience with prostate cancer diagnostics
- Significant post‑registration experience in urological nursing
Research and audit
- Experience of conducting and implementing audit, research and evidence‑based care
Management and leadership
- Experience in leading and managing staff
Professional/ Statutory Registration
- RN1 on the NMC register
