JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK, and we would love to speak with you if you are an experienced PAT Engineer with the equipment and insurance in place.

Our onboarding process starts with a friendly conversation. All our engineers are required to have their own insurance and to have their equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, along with our engineer handbook, contract for services and branded clothing, we supply labels and technical support.

Job Description

JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Richmond upon Thames. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‑time or full‑time.

The role includes pro‑rated earnings based on the rate per appliance, the number of tests, and job dynamics. Projects range from one‑day engagements to long‑term contracts.

To qualify, you must have your own transport and equipment, hold a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent, be reliable, honest, and have a ‘can‑do’ attitude.

All testing instruments and tools must be kept up to date, in good working order, and meet relevant regulations.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Pack necessary tools, testers, and record books into van and travel to first on‑site appointment.
  • Conduct PAT testing on a range of appliances (e.g., microwaves, kettles, computers). Use appropriate test instruments to verify safety.
  • Inform users of results, provide reasons why appliances may be unfit for use.
  • Record findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronic system; provide a copy to employers.
  • Complete required paperwork, including completion certificates and checklists.
  • Move continuously between sites, either alone or part of a team, staying organized and ensuring accurate, efficient completion of tests.
