Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and hands‑on Field Service Engineer / Actuator & Valve Technician to join our growing team within the utility industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance of actuators, valves, penstocks, pipework, and associated mechanical equipment across customer sites.

This role requires a practical problem‑solver with a positive “can do” attitude, strong technical ability, and willingness to work away from home when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, repair, maintenance, and commissioning of electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic actuators
  • Fault finding and repair of valves, penstocks, and associated equipment
  • Installation of valves, penstocks, pipework, and mechanical fittings
  • Carry out onsite inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance activities
  • Produce accurate onsite service reports and technical documentation
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers on‑site
  • Diagnose mechanical and operational faults efficiently and safely
  • Work independently or as part of a team on utility and infrastructure sites
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures
  • Travel and work away from home when required to support customer and project needs

Skill and experiences

  • Previous experience working with actuators, valves, penstocks, or mechanical equipment within the utility, water, or industrial sectors
  • Strong mechanical fitting and fault‑finding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Good understanding of site health & safety practices
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Full UK driving licence
