Senior Electrical Engineer – MRO – Aviation (UK)

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Building Services Engineer to design and manage electrical systems for aviation Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities, including hangars and support buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design and coordination for aviation and MRO facility projects.
  • Manage projects through all stages: feasibility, concept, detailed design, construction, commissioning, handover.
  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, drawings for all electrical systems within MRO hangars.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Support business development through technical input and client engagement.
  • Apply aviation‑specific knowledge: 400 Hz aircraft ground power supply systems; power requirements for aircraft equipment (mass air start, tools, docking, hydraulic systems, compressed air, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, regulatory requirements, DSEAR assessments, ATEX zones, and fire suppression system designs.
  • Lead the MEP team on local, national and international projects; manage financial performance, client fees and commercial matters.
  • Advise on digital transformation initiatives and automation to enhance design efficiency.
  • Drive projects towards net‑zero carbon and sustainable design.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status via IET, CIBSE or equivalent professional institution.
  • Demonstrable experience in the aviation sector, especially MRO facility design.
  • Extensive experience winning and delivering major projects.
  • Strong technical leadership capability of multi‑disciplinary design teams and external sub‑consultants.
  • Awareness of sector‑specific legislation, regulatory requirements, design guidance and future trends.
  • Interest in sustainable building design, energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
