Overview
JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and compliance company based in Cheshire looking for experienced PAT Engineers to work as self‑employed contractors. All engineers must provide their own insurance and have their testing equipment calibrated at least once a year.

- Employment Type: Self‑employed contractors
- Education: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent
- Experience: Proven competence in line with the City & Guilds standard
- Location: Cheshire and commutable areas nationwide
- Salary: Discussed when booking a job – earnings are pro‑rated based on the rate per appliance and the number of tests
Responsibilities
As a PAT Engineer you will:
- Travel to a variety of sites, including hospitals, retail outlets and offices, to conduct electrical appliance testing
- Use specialised test equipment to assess safety of appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers
- Inform users of results and advise on replacement or repair where necessary
- Record findings in a dedicated test report book or electronic system and provide employers with copies
- Complete any additional paperwork, including completion certificates and checklists
- Maintain and update all testing instruments, measuring devices and additional tools to meet relevant regulations
Qualifications & Requirements
In addition to the key details above you should:
- Possess reliable transport or means to travel to sites
- Be honest, reliable and possess a ‘can‑do’ attitude
- Maintain all equipment in good working order and keep it up-to-date
- Be able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑moving environment
