Overview

JR PAT Testing is rapidly expanding across the UK and is looking for experienced PAT Engineers.

Engineers should be self‑employed, hold all necessary insurance and have equipment calibrated yearly. Our onboarding includes an engineer handbook, contract for services, branded clothing, labels and technical support.

Job Description

We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing part‑time or full‑time work. Applicants must have a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent, be reliable, honest and possess a ‘can‑do’ attitude.

Typical work involves traveling to a variety of sites (hospitals, retail outlets, etc.) to test appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers. Results are recorded in a PAT test report book or electronic system and completion certificates are issued.

Jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts; remuneration is paid on a pro‑rate basis based on the rate per appliance and number of tests.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites and conduct Portable Appliance Testing.
  • Use test instruments to assess safety of electrical equipment.
  • Record findings in test reports and circulate completion certificates.
  • Explain results and recommend repairs or replacements to users.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Proof of insurance for self‑employed practice.
  • Equipment calibrated at least once a year.
  • Year of experience matching competency expectations (clear evidence).
  • Ability to commute to Wolverhampton or manage travel nationally.
