Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Commissioning Maintenance Engineer to support an ongoing Energy-from-Waste (EfW) project London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to the successful commissioning and maintenance of a major energy recovery facility. If you have experience in mechanical maintenance, commissioning, or industrial plant operations, this role offers an immediate start on a large-scale project.

Location and Working Pattern

South East London – site-based role.

Client Overview

Our client is delivering a large-scale Energy-from-Waste project, providing a critical contribution to sustainable energy generation.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out commissioning and maintenance on mechanical plant systems, including filter cleaning, pump disassembly, inspections, and consumable replenishment.
  • Plan and complete scheduled maintenance following O&M manuals, manufacturer guidelines, and site procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on plant and rotating equipment in collaboration with commissioning, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Update and maintain accurate records in plant management systems such as PAMELA and CMMS.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of tasks within a live EfW environment.

Must-have Requirements

  • Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, commissioning, or industrial plant operations within sectors such as Energy-from-Waste, power generation, or biomass.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical plant systems, pumps, filters, and rotating equipment, including fault-finding and maintenance expertise.
  • Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and compliance requirements.
  • Valid site safety certification (e.g., SCC, SafePass, CSCS, CCNSG, or equivalent).
  • Effective communication skills, with flexibility and ability to work shifts and travel when required.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Familiarity with plant management systems such as PAMELA or CMMS.
  • Experience in large-scale project environments involving commissioning and operational readiness activities.
