Mobile PAT Testing Engineer – Flexible, Self-Employed

JR PAT Testing is expanding rapidly across the UK and is looking for experienced PAT Engineers in the Haringey area. The role is self‑employed, offers flexible hours, and allows part‑time or full‑time engagement.

All engineers must have their own insurance and calibrated equipment and must be able to travel from Haringey or a reasonable commuting distance. The company provides an engineer handbook, contract for services, branded clothing, labels and technical support.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites – hospitals, retail outlets, offices, etc. – to conduct portable appliance testing.
• Use test instruments to assess appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers for safety and compliance.
• Inform users of results and explain any remedial actions required.
• Record findings on paper or electronic test‑report systems and provide completion certificates and checklists to employers.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure all tests are completed efficiently.

Requirements

• Employment type: Self‑employed.
• Education: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
• Experience: Proven competent in PAT testing, as recognised by the City & Guilds standard.
• Location: Haringey or commutable areas within the UK.
• Equipment: Must own testing instruments, measuring devices and additional tools, all kept up‑to‑date and calibrated annually.
• Insurance: The engineer must hold liability insurance covering PAT work.

Compensation

Earnings are pro‑rata based on the rate per appliance, number of tests and job dynamics. Salary details are discussed during the booking of a job.
