PAT Testing Engineer Barbican

About the Role

JR PAT Testing is expanding across the UK and is seeking experienced PAT Engineers to join our team in Barbican as self‑employed contractors.

Employment Details

• Employment Type: Self‑employed contractor.
• Education Level: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
• Experience: Proven competence aligned with the C&G qualification.
• Location: Barbican and commutable areas; national coverage allowed.
• Salary: Discussed per job, pro‑rata basis according to the rate per appliance, number of tests, and job dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites such as hospitals, retail outlets, and offices, using own calibrated equipment.
• Perform portable appliance testing on items such as microwaves, kettles, computers, and other electrical equipment.
• Interpret test results and advise clients on safety, replacement or repair actions.
• Record findings in PAT test reports, electronic systems, or completion certificates.
• Ensure all testing instruments, tools, and record books are kept in good working order and meet regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate and efficient work schedule, moving between sites alone or as part of a team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
• Own transport and testing equipment; all equipment must be calibrated at least once a year.
• Reliable, honest, and display a can‑do attitude.
• Self‑management and good organisational skills.
