Our Artificial Intelligence & Data (AI&D) Insurance team at Deloitte is at the forefront of transforming the insurance sector through advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Our clients include some of the largest and most well‑known personal and commercial line brands. We partner with these clients to design, build, and implement innovative data strategies and operating models, robust and scalable data platforms, and cutting‑edge AI.
Client engagements are predominantly with organisations facing important transitions. Engagements are typically driven by COOs, CUOs, business unit leaders, CDOs and other members of the senior management team. Client engagements may be as short as a few months, but can also evolve into multi‑year, wide‑ranging and transformative relationships. You will play a critical role in both developing and delivering data solutions for our clients. You will work closely with clients to better understand their business needs and develop solutions that leverage the latest AI & Data technologies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and deliver cutting edge data solutions to address their challenges, ambitions and objectives.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of complex data pipelines, data warehouses, and analytical solutions for insurance clients.
- Architect and build robust data platforms utilising cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Translate complex business problems into technical requirements and actionable data strategies.
- Develop, validate, and deploy machine learning models and AI solutions to address specific client challenges, such as risk assessment, fraud detection, claims optimisation, and customer personalisation.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to clients and stakeholders, and provide recommendations for addressing any challenges that arise.
- Mentor and guide junior data professionals, fostering their technical and consulting skills.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and the latest advancements in data & AI technology and identify opportunities to incorporate new tools and techniques into client solutions.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and solution design.
- Provide thought leadership and contribute to the development of innovative insurance data solutions, sharing your expertise and best practices with clients and colleagues.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
We are seeking consultants with a passion for data who have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with data in insurance. This could be professional services or industry experience across one or many functional domains (e.g. underwriting, distribution, claims, finance). You will play a key role in delivering large, complex data initiatives within a fast‑paced environment in the insurance industry.
Qualifications
- Insurance industry functional domain expertise.
- Good understanding of data concepts such as data modelling, data management, data quality, master data management, reference data, reporting and visualisation, AI, specifically applied to insurance.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and propose practical, data‑driven solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to tell a compelling story by structuring thoughts in a way that is engaging and easy to follow, including using data visualisations to evidence and articulate arguments.
- Experience in developing senior stakeholder relationships across organisations and understanding how to leverage these relationships to drive and embed change.
- Ability to work independently, think strategically and solve problems, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth while maintaining a focus on delivering high‑quality solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Exceptional time management skills to manage competing priorities, across client service, practice development, and business development responsibilities.
