Area Sales Manager – Scotland

Bathgate, Scotland – covering postcode areas DG, EH, FK, G, KA, ML, PA, TD. Position is within the Earth Moving Sales department of Liebherr‑Great Britain Ltd.

Your Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the sales growth of the division by generating sales leads through effective networking, referrals, and prospecting.
  • Successfully identifying, penetrating, and closing business opportunities, including additional sales of parts and rentals.
  • Preparing and following up on quotations and ensuring timely payments from clients.
  • Negotiating within a defined framework to achieve a sale.
  • Monitoring orders closely and rapidly escalating any lost order issues to minimise financial loss.
  • Consistently achieving sales and profitability targets.
  • Maintaining an excellent relationship with suppliers to ensure correct specifications for orders.
  • Working in harmony with the Sales office organisation and other departments to maximise productivity and reduce costs.
  • Communicating effectively with After Sales to ensure a smooth hand‑over of products to customers.
  • Actively supporting the development of Sales Trainees, providing opportunities to enhance their skills and experiences.
  • Actively developing a network of new customer relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Maintaining and developing an excellent relationship with existing clients, establishing regular communication to assess new requirements.
  • Maintaining an accurate database of all customer contact details and sharing this information willingly with other areas of the business.
  • Taking ownership for customer complaints, remaining the point of contact and resolving these to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Identifying the opportunity to supervise product demonstrations at selected customer sites to facilitate closing of new business deals.
  • Taking the initiative to be involved with product and industry exhibitions and adding value.

Your Profile

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Strong IT skills, including CRM platforms and Microsoft Office (or equivalent).
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation and selling.
  • Outstanding communication skills, demonstrated in a team environment.
