Metocéan Engineer / Oceanographer
As a Metocean Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of our metocean campaigns – from planning and mobilisation through to deployment, servicing and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and testing oceanographic and metocean equipment.
- Supporting offshore mobilisation and vessel operations.
- Deploying and servicing equipment such as wave buoys, floating LiDAR systems, seabed instrumentation, tide gauges, and wave radar systems.
- Assisting with mooring assembly and maintenance.
- Working in line with ISO accredited management systems and QHSE procedures.
- Working with telemetry, environmental sensors and real‑time monitoring systems.
- Processing and reviewing environmental and survey data.
- Producing technical reports and project documentation that meets legislative, regulatory, client and internal quality standards.
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality offshore operations and fieldwork planning.

Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or Level 3 qualification or above in science, engineering, electrical or mechanical disciplines, or a degree in an oceanographic‑related subject, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience.
- Two years’ plus industry experience in a relevant technical or engineering role (preferred).
- Hands‑on experience delivering technical projects, including deployment of metocean instrumentation in coastal and offshore environments.
- Practical workboat experience.
- Fieldwork or marine survey experience.
- A systematic, methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, data loggers, and instrument interfaces with satellite/GSM telemetry systems.
- Strong communication skills and confidence to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience preparing risk assessments and method statements.
- Full manual UK driving licence (ability to travel to offshore mobilisation sites as required).

The role is based at our site on the outskirts of Newton Abbot, Devon, with easy access from Exeter, Plymouth and Torbay – offering an excellent quality of life alongside exciting technical work.
