Customer Service Officer – Tamworth Borough Council

Contract: Hybrid working contract, 2 x 37 hours per week (permanent) or 1 x 37 hours per week (temporary for 12 months)

Location: Tamworth, Staffordshire (Marmion House reception)

Salary: £26,403 – £28,598 per annum

Overview

Deliver exceptional customer experiences and resolve enquiries at first contact across telephone, digital, and face‑to‑face channels. Work as part of a dedicated team based at Marmion House, signposting customers to partner services and ensuring seamless service.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and resolve a wide range of enquiries related to council services.
  • Provide support via telephone, digital, and face‑to‑face contact.
  • Signpost customers to partner agencies and coordinate follow‑ups.
  • Maintain high service standards and keep records of customer interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other Council departments.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, independently and within a team.
  • Experience delivering customer service across multiple contact channels.
  • Empathetic approach, adapting methods to meet diverse customer needs.
  • Confident computer skills and awareness of digital customer service systems.
  • Experience handling a wide range of complex queries.
