Assistant Phase Leader – one position
About This Role
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Phase Leader to support the raising of attainment for students within the relevant Key Stage. This is a non‑teaching role working closely with Heads of Year, pastoral teams and inclusion colleagues to support behaviour, attendance, punctuality, welfare, safeguarding and positive engagement with learning.
Successful candidate will play an important role in promoting a positive ethos of learning, maintaining high expectations of student conduct, behaviour, punctuality, uniform and equipment, and supporting students’ readiness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a positive learning culture through high expectations of student interactions, conduct and engagement.
- Support Heads of Year, tutors and year teams in providing effective pastoral support for students.
- Monitor behaviour, attendance and punctuality information, identifying patterns and supporting timely intervention.
- Support students on report, Individual Behaviour Plans or Pastoral Support Plans.
- Work with students at risk of disengagement, applying appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Communicate with families and stakeholders to support positive attendance, punctuality and behaviour.
- Liaise with safeguarding colleagues and external agencies where appropriate.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive atmosphere across selected year groups.
Ideal Candidate
Recent experience of working within a pastoral environment and a caring, positive approach when working with students; able to understand and respond sensitively to student needs; support positive behaviour management and remain calm under pressure; clear communication and interpersonal skills; maintain confidentiality; confident working independently and as part of a team; responsible, adaptable and flexible; commitment to ongoing service and personal development.
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent required.
