Supporting our e‑fulfilment operation for a well‑known recognised brand. The site will handle the movement of customer‑specific products, including beers, wines and spirits, within a fast‑paced warehouse environment.

As a Warehouse Shift Manager you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Operations Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the warehouse, ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard in order to meet contractual KPI’s.

Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00–06.00

Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Manager:

  • Manage and motivate the shift team in order to ensure that productivity and service KPI’s are achieved or exceeded.
  • Ensure the highest possible levels of health, safety and hygiene are upheld so that legislative and quality requirements can be complied with, ensuring relevant paperwork is completed and retained.
  • Ensure the highest levels of quality and compliance are maintained and that the site operates to the audit standard required.
  • Deliver communication briefings so that all shifts are aware of all company and local issues and employees are able to offer input/improvements and feel involved.
  • Manage Goods Inwards area to ensure that receipts are made quickly and without damaging goods so that stock is available to satisfy orders.
  • Develop all team members so that their contributions to the warehouse can be maximised and succession planned.
  • Carry out disciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations in line with company procedure.
  • Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with company policy and carry out return to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor and control time and attendance system.
  • Offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
  • Manpower planning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost‑effectively run the shift.
  • Enforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and control training for teams, ensuring the correct amount of health & safety representation on shift, i.e. First Aiders, Fire Marshall etc.
  • Support management in any ad‑hoc duties within the warehouse function.

Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse operational experience.
  • Experience of managing, supporting and motivating a large team.
  • Proven experience of all aspects of people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters.
  • Experience of managing teams and prioritising a tight and challenging workload.
  • Knowledge and experience of safe working practice inclusive of all health and safety elements.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Good IT skills, Microsoft packages and WMS.
  • Previous 3PL experience is highly advantageous.
