Job Title: Mobile Store Detective

Location: Covering Farnborough, Reading, Watford.

Salary: £13.85 P/Hr + Mileage Paid

Contract Type: Full-Time / Permanent

Hours: 50 hours per week, including 2 Saturdays per month

Start Date: Immediate Start Available

About the Role

We are seeking a professional and experienced Store Detective to operate across multiple retail locations within South London within the B&Q Contract. This is a mobile role, so access to your own vehicle is essential – mileage expenses will be reimbursed with having business insurance. As a Mobile Store Detective, you will play a vital role in reducing theft and stock loss, ensuring customer and staff safety, and protecting company assets. You’ll be working both covertly and overtly across a number of high street retail stores, responding to incidents and supporting security operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer behaviour and detect suspicious activity across multiple sites
  • Covertly observe and apprehend shoplifters where appropriate and safe to do so
  • Provide detailed incident reports and witness statements as required
  • Liaise with store managers, staff, and where needed, local police
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and SIA guidelines
  • Travel between assigned stores in South London
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times

Requirements

  • Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor)
  • Previous experience as a Store Detective or Retail Security Officer preferred
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Strong observation and communication skills
  • Confident in dealing with conflict and making decisions
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
