As an Operational ControlEngineer within the Grid Technologies Service Engineering team, this rolesupports customers across the full lifecycle of control and operationaltechnology systems. The position focuses on responding to technical incidents,delivering enhancements to live systems, and supporting customers under serviceand warranty agreements. Working closely with colleagues, customers, andsuppliers, the role combines hands‑ontechnical support with system administration, cyber security compliance, andcontinuous improvement activities. There are opportunities to develop technicalexpertise through mentoring, training, and practical experience, whilecontributing to reliable and secure operation of HVDC, FACTS, and wind farmprojects.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Deliver, maintain, and supportoperational control and IT infrastructure systems for HVDC, FACTS, and windfarm projects to ensure reliable and secure operation.
- Administer and maintainWindows‑based andLinux‑basedsystems, including system configuration, access control, monitoring, backup,and recovery activities.
- Perform routine monitoring,troubleshooting, and problem resolution to maximise system availability andperformance for customers.
- Support system integration,testing, and commissioning activities in test laboratories and customerenvironments, including Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Ensure ongoing compliance withcyber security standards, frameworks, and customer‑specific requirementsthroughout the system lifecycle.
- Contribute to servicedelivery, continuous improvement initiatives, and customer training related toSCADA and operational control systems.
What You Bring
- Proven experience deliveringor supporting technical solutions in SCADA, control, protection,telecommunications, or related engineering disciplines.
- Strong capability introubleshooting technological or electrical issues within operational orindustrial environments.
- Practical experience workingwith operational or industrial networks and managing virtualised environmentssuch as Hyper‑V orVMware.
- Knowledge of cyber securitystandards, frameworks, and best practices relevant to control and protectionsystems.
- Effective communication,organisation, and multi‑taskingskills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive, proactive approachto learning, with the willingness to develop technical skills through training,mentoring, and hands‑onexperience.
