Position Overview

Senior Technical Consultant – responsible for working closely with customers to understand and translate business and technical requirements, propose solutions to business problems, and lead the technical delivery of the chosen design. The role focuses on Enterprise Service Management (ESM) and SaaS technical delivery, primarily with ServiceNow and related ITSM toolsets, as well as Web Technologies such as XML, HTML, JavaScript, and Web Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and run functional design workshops, creating design specifications based on out‑of‑the‑box functionality and customer requirements.
  • Provide creative solutions to resolve business, technology, process, and people challenges.
  • Collaborate with Pre‑Sales and Delivery teams to support, validate, and help deliver client presentations, workshops, proof‑of‑concept designs, and responses to technical and business inquiries.
  • Deliver ServiceNow solutions hands‑on, from design and development through to testing and implementation.
  • Support the development and growth of services delivered by Engage ESM practices.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues, sharing best practices and knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of software implementation experience in a development or consulting role.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing small teams and projects.
  • Ability to produce documentation at multiple levels, including technical and customer‑facing.
  • Knowledge of IT and Enterprise Service Management or large enterprise SaaS solutions.
  • Expertise with ServiceNow or an equivalent ITSM toolset.
  • Experience in ServiceNow areas such as ITSM, ITBM, ITOM, CSM, or HR products is highly desirable.
  • ServiceNow certifications across all areas are highly desirable.
  • Experience with multiple application architectures and supporting technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, JavaScript, Python, and Shell.
  • Knowledge of Web services (REST, SOAP), XML, and JSON.
  • Understanding of relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) is beneficial.
  • Prepared to travel.
  • Legal authorisation to work in the UK.

Essential Criteria

Clients are predominantly UK Public‑Sector and Defence. Security clearance is required. Applicants must have lived and worked in the UK for at least the last five years. Applications not meeting this criterion will not be considered.
