Job Description:

LMJ Group is establishing a specialist Management Accounting and Finance Outsourcing team — a dedicated division focused on delivering high-quality, outsourced finance functions to businesses that need more than compliance. More insight. More strategy. More control over their numbers.

This is a full-time, on-site role based at either our **Luton or Kettering** office. The right candidate will not only lead client delivery within this division but will play a central role in shaping it — building the team, defining the service offering, and growing into a **Practice Manager** position as the division scales.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts & Financial Reporting

– Preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly management accounts to a consistently high standard across a portfolio of clients

– Production of detailed budgets, forecasts, and rolling financial models tailored to each client’s business objectives

– Variance analysis with clear, insightful narrative commentary for management and board-level reporting

– Cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis, and scenario planning

– Development of KPI frameworks and performance dashboards aligned to client goals

Finance Outsourcing & Client Advisory

– Act as the outsourced Finance Manager for a portfolio of clients — providing the insight and strategic support of an in-house finance team, delivered externally

– Build deep, trusted relationships with business owners and senior management, translating financial data into actionable commercial decisions

– Identify and communicate financial risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations proactively

– Support clients through growth, restructuring, fundraising, and exit planning from a financial perspective

Leadership & Division Building

– Take ownership of the management accounting portfolio

– Supervise, mentor, and develop junior members of the management accounting team as the division grows

– Contribute to the design and standardisation of service delivery processes, templates, and reporting frameworks

– Work closely with the Director to develop the division’s client base and service offering

– Progress into a Practice Manager role as the division scales, with full support and a structured pathway

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

– Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice, with substantial focus on management accounts

– ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or qualified by extensive demonstrable experience)

– Deep, hands-on expertise in management accounts preparation— including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and board reporting

– Proven experience acting as an outsourced finance function or finance business partner for multiple clients simultaneously

– Strong technical grounding in year-end accounts, corporation tax, and VAT — to support the wider client relationship

– Commercially minded — able to interpret numbers, identify trends, and translate financial insight into strategic advice

– Confident, credible communicator capable of presenting financial data to non-finance business owners at board level

Desirable

– Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Fathom or similar cloud accounting platforms

– Exposure to a diverse client portfolio across multiple industries and business sizes

– Familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) and its implications for management reporting

– Interest in business development and a genuine appetite for growing a service line from the ground up

What We Offer

– A rare opportunity to help build and lead a new specialist division from the ground up — with the autonomy to shape how it is delivered

– A clear, supported pathway to Practice Manager as the division grows

– Competitive salary, reviewed in line with the division’s growth and your contribution to it

– A collaborative, ambitious practice environment with strong and accessible Director support

– Flexible location — based at either our Luton or Kettering office

– Ongoing CPD support and professional development support
