LMJ Group is establishing a specialist Management Accounting and Finance Outsourcing team — a dedicated division focused on delivering high-quality, outsourced finance functions to businesses that need more than compliance. More insight. More strategy. More control over their numbers.
This is a full-time, on-site role based at either our **Luton or Kettering** office. The right candidate will not only lead client delivery within this division but will play a central role in shaping it — building the team, defining the service offering, and growing into a **Practice Manager** position as the division scales.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Financial Reporting
– Preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly management accounts to a consistently high standard across a portfolio of clients
– Production of detailed budgets, forecasts, and rolling financial models tailored to each client’s business objectives
– Variance analysis with clear, insightful narrative commentary for management and board-level reporting
– Cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis, and scenario planning
– Development of KPI frameworks and performance dashboards aligned to client goals
Finance Outsourcing & Client Advisory
– Act as the outsourced Finance Manager for a portfolio of clients — providing the insight and strategic support of an in-house finance team, delivered externally
– Build deep, trusted relationships with business owners and senior management, translating financial data into actionable commercial decisions
– Identify and communicate financial risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations proactively
– Support clients through growth, restructuring, fundraising, and exit planning from a financial perspective
Leadership & Division Building
– Take ownership of the management accounting portfolio
– Supervise, mentor, and develop junior members of the management accounting team as the division grows
– Contribute to the design and standardisation of service delivery processes, templates, and reporting frameworks
– Work closely with the Director to develop the division’s client base and service offering
– Progress into a Practice Manager role as the division scales, with full support and a structured pathway
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice, with substantial focus on management accounts
– ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or qualified by extensive demonstrable experience)
– Deep, hands-on expertise in management accounts preparation— including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and board reporting
– Proven experience acting as an outsourced finance function or finance business partner for multiple clients simultaneously
– Strong technical grounding in year-end accounts, corporation tax, and VAT — to support the wider client relationship
– Commercially minded — able to interpret numbers, identify trends, and translate financial insight into strategic advice
– Confident, credible communicator capable of presenting financial data to non-finance business owners at board level
Desirable
– Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Fathom or similar cloud accounting platforms
– Exposure to a diverse client portfolio across multiple industries and business sizes
– Familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) and its implications for management reporting
– Interest in business development and a genuine appetite for growing a service line from the ground up
