Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quality Engineer to support major defence programmes based in Reading, UK. This role ensures that all electrical systems, components, and installations meet stringent quality, regulatory, and customer requirements within a safety-critical environment. The role spans design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

The position will be working on a 12 – 18 Month Contract – Outside of IR35.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

– Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and defence standards

– Conduct audits and inspections of electrical systems

– Verify adherence to engineering drawings and specifications

Inspection & Testing:

– Review inspection and test plans (ITPs)

– Oversee installation verification and commissioning

– Witness electrical testing activities

Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement:

– Investigate non-conformances (NCRs)

– Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

– Drive continuous improvement initiatives

Supplier Quality:

– Support supplier audits and performance monitoring

– Ensure quality of incoming components

Stakeholder Collaboration:

– Work with engineering, production, and project teams

– Support design reviews and project milestones

Skills & Experience

Essential:

– Eligible for SC Level Security Clearance

– Experience as a Quality Engineer in electrical systems

– Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality processes

– Strong understanding of electrical systems and drawings

– Experience in regulated industries

Desirable:

– Experience with Nuclear /defence sector

– Knowledge of MOD standards

– CQE or similar certification

– Lean / Six Sigma knowledge

Qualifications

Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Relevant quality certifications are desirable.

Security Clearance & Compliance Requirements:

  • Role is subject to UK National Security Vetting.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
  • Preference for candidates holding active SC clearance.
  • Typically requires UK residency for the last 5 years.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Must complete security vetting before site access.
  • Must adhere to all site security and confidentiality protocols.
  • Dual nationality or overseas residency may require additional checks.
