As a Human Factors Specialist supporting the TRINITY programme, you will report to the HFI Manager and assist them in delivering User-Centred Design and Integration activities.
This could include assessing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf equipment against system requirements / user needs; engaging with users to understand their goals and tasks; conducting detailed analyses to understand cognitive workload and human error; anthropometric assessment and workspace/workstation design; working with other engineering functions and disciplines to support their tasks.
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
- Support Vigilant lead HFI specialist in the conduct of human factors activities and integration of HF into the TRINITY design
- Work with end user groups and HF stakeholders in workshops, trials and User-Centred Design activities
- Assess prototypes/mock-ups of TRINITY hardware and software solutions
- Conduct analyses such as, task analysis, human error analysis, usability and workload assessments
- Support Integration Testing and verification activities
- Produce reports and input to customer deliverables.
Knowledge:
- At least five years’ experience of applying Human Factors methods in defence or a safety-critical industry
Skills:
- Experience applying Def Stan 00-251 and working within a multi-disciplinary team on complex system integration and development projects
Qualifications:
- A recognised Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology or Engineering (with specific Human Factors Experience)
- Registered membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or eligibility for CIEHF Chartership via an equivalent body)
