Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias Barnsley £40,000 – £50,000 per annum (DOE) Full-time | Permanent We’re seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a busy industrial manufacturing environment in Barnsley. This is a key role focused on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site equipment through effective planned and reactive maintenance. You’ll be part of a hands-on engineering team where your expertise will directly contribute to improving equipment uptime, reliability, and overall site performance.
What you’ll be doing Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and machinery Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults Reading and working from electrical and mechanical drawings Maintaining and repairing a range of industrial equipment including: Overhead cranes and jibs Plasma and gas cutting machinery Sawing and drilling equipment Welding and grinding equipment Forklifts and sideloaders Carrying out mechanical maintenance tasks such as bearing and gear changes Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety procedures Working independently and taking ownership of maintenance tasks Supporting subcontractor coordination when required Contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
What we’re looking for~ Electrical engineering background within a maintenance environment~ NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)~18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)~ Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills~ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings~ Experience working with industrial machinery and plant equipment~ Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices~ Self-motivated, practical, and proactive approach to work
