Job description Groundsperson Location: Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon areas Contract: Temporary Pay Rate: £ per hour Hours: 37 hours per week on a rota basis Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am to 1:00pmBenefits of this Groundsperson role£ per hour * 37 hours per week * Temporary local government role * Work across parks, playing fields, landscaped areas and open spaces * Varied outdoor role within amenity horticulture and grounds maintenance * Opportunity to support the upkeep of public spaces, sports grounds and community facilitiesAbout the RoleStaffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting for a Groundsperson to join a local government outdoor spaces maintenance team across the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon areas.The successful candidate will work under the general direction of a Head Groundsperson and will be responsible for carrying out both basic and skilled grounds maintenance work across parks, playing fields, landscaped areas and open spaces.This role will involve working flexibly across different locations within the Borough and supporting the care and maintenance of buildings, sports equipment, sports facilities, amenity areas, parks and play areas.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out grounds maintenance duties across parks, playing fields, landscaped areas and open spaces * Operate commercial grass cutting machinery and amenity horticultural equipment * Use tractors and tractor-mounted equipment safely and effectively * Support the maintenance of sports grounds, parks, play areas and general amenity spaces * Carry out horticultural tasks to the required quality and within agreed timescales * Assist with the care and maintenance of buildings, sports equipment and outdoor facilities * Provide customer care services at parks and sports grounds * Work both individually and as part of a team * Share knowledge and skills with other operatives when required * Work flexibly across different locations and duties within the Borough * Follow health and safety requirements at all times * Support the positive appearance, safety and upkeep of local outdoor spacesEssential CriteriaApplicants must have:Experience of amenity horticulture operations * 12 months of experience operating a variety of commercial grass cutting machinery and amenity horticultural equipment * 12 months of experience using amenity horticultural skills * 12 months of experience operating or using tractors and complex tractor-mounted equipment, such as flail, bat wing mower, side arm flail, chipper and PTO-driven equipment * Ability to work as part of a team * Good communication skills * Ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision * Ability to work to tight deadlines * Commitment to quality work and safe working practices * Understanding of health and safety requirements * A current driving licence valid in the UK, including Category B and EDesirable CriteriaIt would be desirable to have:Pesticide Certificate PA1 and PA6a * Two of the following three qualifications: * Chainsaw operation qualification * Current First Aid certificate * NVQ Level 2 Amenity Horticulture or equivalent * 1 year of supervisory experience, customer care and sports ground maintenance experience * Full current driving licence valid in the UK, including categories C1+E, F and K…
