Senior Legal Counsel
Financial Services firm
Based in South West London (Hybrid working)
The role
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating documentation
- Transaction and deal support in conjunction with Risk/Credit and other business departments.
- Identify, assess and mitigate legal, ethical and reputational risks, ensuring that decisions align with approach to risk.
- Assist business teams in understanding the legal implications of their activities and empower them to manage risks effectively.
- Support in navigating new legal and regulatory developments.
- Develop and maintain legal resources, including templates and guidance documents, to improve efficiency and support the wider business.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality support when specialist advice is required, acting as the first point of contact on externally instructed files and taking account of budget requirements and Legal panel guidelines.
- Supporting senior management in relation to regulatory issues, queries and investigations.
- Managing litigation/disputes/complaints
- Supporting reporting obligations and committees including legal risk reporting.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor
- Proven track record of drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
