Senior Quality Engineer / Quality Lead

We are supporting a leading UK infrastructure, nuclear, construction and property development organisation seeking experienced Senior Quality Engineers and Quality Leads to support a broad portfolio of nationally significant projects across the UK.

With more than 10,000 employees operating across offices, depots and up to 400 live project sites nationwide, this organisation delivers critical infrastructure that underpins everyday life across the UK — from water, utilities and transportation through to environmental, civil engineering and major capital programmes.

  • Asset Breakdown Structures (ABS)

The Opportunity

As a Senior Quality Engineer or Quality Lead, you will play a key role supporting both pre-construction and operational delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and right first time.

You will help drive:

  • Quality assurance and compliance
  • Operational governance
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Performance improvement
  • Audit and inspection activities
  • Quality reporting and assurance visibility
  • Lessons learned and continuous improvement

You will work closely with operational teams, engineers, delivery managers and client-side representatives across complex infrastructure and capital delivery environments.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting project teams to deliver a “right first time” quality culture
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO-accredited integrated management systems
  • Managing quality assurance and quality control activities across project lifecycles
  • Conducting inspections, audits and assurance reviews
  • Supporting risk management and non-conformance resolution
  • Managing product traceability and material approval processes
  • Reviewing inspection test plans (ITPs), quality records and engineering documentation
  • Supporting lessons learned and continuous improvement activities
  • Driving operational quality improvements across live delivery environments
  • Supporting reporting, governance and quality assurance metrics
  • Collaborating across engineering, operational and client stakeholder teams
  • Supporting compliance with client, industry and regulatory standards

  • ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001
  • Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Asset Breakdown Structures / asset hierarchies
  • Engineering quality assurance
  • Inspection and test plans
  • Root cause analysis
  • NCR management
  • Quality governance and reporting
  • Continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong Quality Assurance / Quality Control background
  • Experience within infrastructure, utilities or construction delivery environments
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong audit, inspection and compliance capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong documentation and reporting capability
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable operating across live operational environments
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Qualifications

Depending on role level and project assignment, the following may be advantageous:

  • CSCS Card
  • SMSTS
  • NRSWA
  • NVQ Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision
  • Internal / Lead Auditor qualifications
  • Quality-related certifications
