We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst to join our Risk & Compliance team. This role will support the firm’s regulatory obligations, risk management framework, and compliance culture across all business operations.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance and working closely with the COLP, COFA, MLRO, and senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will help ensure the firm remains compliant with applicable legal and regulatory obligations, including SRA Standards and Regulations, AML legislation, data protection requirements, and wider professional conduct obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the firm’s risk and compliance framework.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations, including the Code of Conduct for Firms and Code of Conduct for Solicitors, RELs and RFLs.
- Conduct risk assessments across legal, operational, regulatory, reputational, and financial risk areas.
- Support AML and financial crime compliance activities, including client due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, source of funds reviews, and ongoing monitoring.
- Assist with the firm’s obligations under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and related legislation.
- Maintain and monitor compliance registers, breach logs, conflicts registers, and policy documentation.
- Support the COLP and COFA in identifying, assessing, recording, and reporting material breaches where required.
- Assist with internal audits, file reviews, and compliance monitoring programmes.
- Monitor regulatory developments from the SRA, Law Society, ICO, and other relevant authorities.
- Deliver compliance guidance and training to fee earners and business services teams.
- Prepare management information and compliance reports for senior leadership and governance committees.
- Support GDPR and UK data protection compliance activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Promote a strong culture of ethical conduct, risk awareness, and regulatory compliance across the firm.
Skills & Experience Required
- Significant experience in a legal risk and compliance role within a UK law firm.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- SRA Standards and Regulations
- Legal sector AML obligations
- UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
- Conflicts management and professional conduct requirements
- Experience supporting COLP, COFA, MLRO, or compliance functions within a regulated legal environment.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience using compliance and onboarding systems desirable.

- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant professional qualifications desirable, including:

- IRM
- Advanced AML certifications
