A large public sector organisation is currently recruiting for an Assistant Head of Engagement and Estate Strategy for a 12 month contract, supporting the delivery of a large-scale estate transformation programme across a complex operational environment.
The role will be based in London with hybrid working available (3 days on site), working closely with senior leaders, programme teams and stakeholders.
The rate for this role will be £700 – £760 per day inside IR35 (umbrella) depending on experience.
You will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the Estate Strategy, ensuring property solutions align with operational requirements, financial constraints and wider organisational priorities.
You’ll be part of a highly collaborative estates function, with the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile transformation programmes while shaping how a major public sector organisation uses its estate to support frontline services.
This is a varied role where you will work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor on estate strategy, stakeholder engagement and demand management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
You will need to be a strategic and commercially aware estates or property professional, capable of navigating complex environments and influencing senior decision-making. You will balance strategic planning with stakeholder engagement, ensuring estate solutions are aligned to operational needs and deliver value for money.
You will build strong relationships with senior leaders and operational teams, helping them articulate their estate requirements and translating these into practical, deliverable solutions.
You will take ownership of engagement activity and demand management, supporting business case development, options appraisals and governance processes to ensure estate strategies are effectively delivered.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across estates, finance, and transformation teams to coordinate activity and support delivery of change programmes.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS (PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL)
- Experience working in estate strategy, property, or corporate real estate environments
- Experience operating within complex, multi-stakeholder organisations (public sector desirable)
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Experience shaping or delivering estate solutions aligned to organisational or operational needs
- Experience supporting business cases, options appraisals, and governance processes
- Ability to manage competing priorities and balance strategic and operational demands
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to senior audiences
- Commercial awareness and understanding of financial drivers within estate decisions
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
