Data Management Officer | Global Financial Services Institution – London
We are partnering with a globally recognised financial services organisation undergoing significant investment in its data, governance, and security capabilities across international markets. As part of this evolution, they are strengthening their London-based technology function to better support regulatory compliance, enterprise data standards, and secure, scalable data platforms.
This role offers the opportunity to sit at the core of a highly regulated environment, shaping how data is governed, secured, and leveraged across the business. You will play a hands-on role in delivering data management and data security initiatives that directly impact enterprise risk, regulatory alignment, and the firm’s long-term data strategy.
You’ll join a lean but highly capable IT and data function, working closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Finance, Compliance, and business units. The team operates as a central authority on data governance and security, with strong alignment to global Head Office directives.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the implementation of data governance and data security frameworks aligned with global standards and regulatory expectations
- Design and enhance data quality monitoring, lineage, and classification models across critical banking systems
- Conduct data security risk assessments and embed controls in line with NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, and UK regulatory guidance
- Collaborate with engineering teams and third-party vendors to integrate security controls into data platforms and applications
- Define and maintain technical standards, policies, and operating procedures for enterprise data management and protection
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience in data management, data governance, or data security within financial services
- Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks (GDPR, FCA, PRA, ICO) and information security standards (NIST, ISO 27001)
- Hands-on experience with data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and classification tooling
- Good technical grounding across data platforms (data warehouses, data lakes, integration pipelines) and SQL
- Experience working with secure, regulated production systems, ideally within banking or capital markets
- Ability to work cross-functionally, translating regulatory and technical requirements into actionable frameworks
- Analytical, proactive mindset with the ability to operate independently in a high-accountability environment
- Mandarin language skills are advantageous for collaboration with global stakeholders
This is an opportunity to shape the foundations of data governance and security within a globally connected financial institution, where your work will directly influence regulatory alignment, operational resilience, and enterprise data strategy. You won’t just be maintaining frameworks; you’ll be evolving them in a complex, high-impact environment.
If you’re looking to apply your expertise in a role that combines technical depth, regulatory exposure, and strategic influence, we’d love to hear from you. Please share your CV to start the conversation.
