Senior Engineering Manager

22 Bishopsgate | London

Create a place where people thrive.

22 Bishopsgate is a people-focused workplace destination. The building is Europe’s first vertical village and accommodates a community of up to 12,000 occupiers and visitors, with a working assumption that the building will normally operate with about 9,000 personnel at any one time.

22 Bishopsgate’s proposition, creating a place where people thrive, is centred around fostering a new type of productivity underpinned by four central commitments; Health & Wellness, Learning & Education, Diversity & Inclusion and Sustainability & The Environment. With a focus on wellbeing and community, this proposition allows occupiers to benefit from the direct correlation between happiness at work and quality of workplace with an increase in productivity and creativity. It has been designed to put user experience and human interaction at the centre of its offer and is the first major London building to embody the structural and cultural shifts in how people work and live.

We are now seeking an exceptional Senior Engineering Manager to help drive the next chapter of operational excellence within one of London’s most iconic and technologically advanced commercial assets.

Working closely with the Head of 22 Bishopsgate, you will support the delivery of the engineering strategy and day-to-day operational delivery across this landmark building. You will champion engineering performance, innovation, sustainability, and resilience whilst ensuring every system, service, and maintenance intervention contributes to an outstanding occupier experience.

The Role

As Senior Engineering Manager, you will support the Head of Technical Services in the delivery of engineering and hard services operations across 22 Bishopsgate, ensuring the building continues to operate at the forefront of modern commercial real estate.

You will oversee the performance of critical building systems, lead service partner relationships, support capital improvement initiatives, and drive innovative engineering strategies that enhance operational reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.

You will also support the wider operational team, helping shape a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the engineering operations and hard services strategy across the building
  • Drive best-in-class performance across critical building systems and infrastructure
  • Champion innovation through smart building technologies and data-led engineering solutions
  • Lead and manage engineering service partners, contractors, and specialist suppliers
  • Support capital replacement programmes and long-term asset lifecycle planning
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, health and safety standards, and operational governance
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency programmes, and environmental performance improvements
  • Support business continuity planning and rapid response to critical engineering incidents
  • Build strong relationships with occupiers, stakeholders, and the wider JLL engineering community
  • Foster a high-performing culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

About You

We are looking for a technically credible and commercially aware engineering leader with experience operating within complex, premium commercial environments.

You will bring strong operational performance, excellent stakeholder engagement capability, and a passion for innovation, engineering performance, and customer experience.

You will likely demonstrate:

  • Proven experience delivering engineering operations within a large-scale commercial or mixed-use environment
  • Strong technical understanding of modern building services infrastructure and smart building systems
  • Experience working alongside engineering service partners and driving performance against KPIs and SLAs
  • Strong commercial awareness, including budget management, lifecycle planning, and contract oversight
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive and solutions-focused leadership style
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance, engineering governance, and health and safety legislation
  • Relevant engineering qualifications, with chartership or progression towards chartership advantageous

At 22 Bishopsgate, engineering is not simply about maintaining a building. It is about creating an environment where people, systems, and ideas perform at their very best.

If you are excited by the opportunity to shape the future of operational real estate within one of London’s most recognised commercial destinations, we would love to hear from you.
