About the Company

A global insurance and reinsurance carrier operating as a specialty underwriter through the Lloyd’s market. The business focuses on high-risk, complex lines and functions as part of a larger listed financial services group.

About the Role

The Compliance function is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance across the business and providing appropriate reporting to the Board. It also ensures that effective controls are established and maintained to mitigate financial crime risks and to meet relevant regulatory standards and expectations.

This is a fixed-term position providing additional support to the Compliance function. The role is that of a generalist Compliance Manager, with a strong focus on Corporate Governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of the Compliance function, including responding to queries and monitoring adherence to policies
  • Assist with reporting, policy reviews, and updates to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Provide support on governance activities, including Board and committee administration and maintaining statutory records
  • Offer regulatory advice to the business and support horizon scanning for regulatory developments
  • Contribute to the compliance monitoring programme, including testing controls and maintaining regulatory submissions
  • Support financial crime and sanctions activities, including screening and query handling
  • Provide guidance on data protection requirements (e.g., GDPR)
  • Assist with conduct risk, consumer duty, product governance, and complaints-related matters

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ compliance experience within a regulated financial services environment, ideally within the Lloyd’s market
  • Corporate Governance experience gained within a regulated financial services setting, preferably within the Lloyd’s market
  • Strong awareness of relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA/PRA requirements, SMCR, Solvency II, UK GDPR, and associated regimes)
  • Ability and willingness to operate within a small, hands-on team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and support a positive, collaborative culture
