Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering environment.
You will take ownership of key projects, support and mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with production teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop product designs in line with project requirements
*Produce high-quality engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation
*Liaise effectively with production teams to support manufacturing processes
*Generate cut lists, jigs, and utilise nesting software (training provided if required)
*Create user manuals and technical guides for engineers and end users
*Maintain and manage a log of design issues, ensuring effective resolution
*Enhance and improve existing product designs
*Select appropriate materials based on design and customer requirements
*Conduct structural calculations, stress analysis, and tolerance assessments
*Prepare design specifications, reports, and procurement documentation
*Ensure compliance with quality standards and health & safety procedures
*Propose and implement design changes with consideration to cost, feasibility, and timelines
Requirements
*Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
*Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy engineering
*Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
*Strong technical drawing capability
