Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a secondment B7 post within the Paediatric Dietetic team at Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust to cover maternity leave for up to one year from August 2026. This is a split post between paediatric gastroenterology and the provision of dietetic services to the Neonatal Intensive Care unit.

The future of paediatric care in CUH is very exciting; work began on the Cambridge Children’s Hospital in 2024, which will integrate mental and physical health care, treating the whole child alongside cutting‑edge research.

Ideal Candidate

This post would ideally suit a specialist dietitian looking to advance skills and knowledge within gastroenterology, neonatology and parenteral nutrition, and who is keen on service development, education, training and supporting junior members of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Service development, education and training across paediatric gastroenterology and neonatal nutrition.
  • Provide tertiary gastroenterology support three days a week, covering complex regional cases such as intestinal failure, home parenteral nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease and eating disorders.
  • Support the neonatal intensive care unit two days a week alongside the existing Band 7 neonatal dietitian.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of 25 paediatric dietitians and contribute to the wider dietetic department’s training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Good paediatric dietetic experience, including complex enteral feeding, nutrition support, and management of IBD, coeliac disease and other gastroenterology disorders.
  • Experience in neonatal nutrition and care of critically unwell infants.
  • Advantage: experience in the management of complex neonates, parenteral nutrition and/or intestinal failure.
