As a Gas Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our properties, ensuring they meet our high standards and customer expectations. This mobile role is predominantly based in the Frome/Glastonbury area; you will ideally be within a 30‑minute commute.
Responsibilities
- Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose and repair domestic heating systems, including fault‑finding, installation, and annual servicing.
- Quality Workmanship: Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard, complying with building regulations and safety requirements.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate a positive and professional approach to customers, ensuring the highest standard of service and satisfaction.
- Maintenance and Testing: Perform periodic testing and installation work, ensuring compliance with best‑practice guidelines.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- On‑Call Participation: Take part in an out‑of‑hours on‑call structure and attend meetings and training as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level‑one Gas Engineer certification (see candidate information pack).
- Post‑Qualification Experience: Proven experience in the gas industry with a strong understanding of responsive maintenance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing boiler faults, performing annual servicing, and carrying out installation work.
- Customer Focus: Experience working in customers’ homes, demonstrating a professional and positive approach.
- Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- IT Skills: Proficient in the use of mobile technology.
- Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with LPG and oil systems is desirable.
- CCN1 (Domestic Core Element).
- CENWAT1 (Domestic Gas Central Heating Boilers and Water Heaters).
- CKR1 (Cookers) – required to be completed within a reasonable timeframe after probation.
- HTR1 (Heaters) – required to be completed within a reasonable timeframe after probation.
- LPG (Bottled Gas).
- Part L (Energy Efficiency Qualification).
- Part G (Hot Water Safety and Efficiency).
- Water Regs WRAS.
- Unvented Hot Water.
- OFTEC (Oil Qualification).
- OFTEC or equivalent (Solid Fuel Qualification).
