Children and Young People and Families Officer

The Children, Young People and Families Officer is a pivotal role managing the programme for visually impaired children and young people under 18 and their families across Berkshire. It includes planning and delivering a programme of activities adapted for all levels of sight loss with the aim of building children’s skills and supporting their development so that they can become tomorrow’s independent visually impaired adults, leading the lives of their choosing.

About Children and Young People and Families Officer

Salary: £16.46 phr (£19,261.58 per annum actual; £32,102.63 per annum FTE)

Employment type: 12 month contract (ideally from June 2026)

Employment hours: 22.5 hours a week (open to discussing whether these are year round or weighted towards more in school holidays and less in term time)

Location: All of Berkshire based from Reading office

The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships with children of all ages and their families and be able to work well both leading their own project and as part of the wider team. We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting people to live enriched lives, and therefore you should be someone who is able to work innovatively and be an advocate for our services.
