Domestic Service Supervisor

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £25901

Hours: Monday – Friday, 06:00–13:30 (plus Saturdays on a rota basis 07:00–10:00, approximately 1 in 3 Saturdays)

Availability: Immediate start date

General Purpose and Requirements

  • Laundry management – Ensure all laundry paperwork is completed by domestics and returned laundry and dry cleaning is checked for shortages; collect laundry invoices weekly and return to the Domestic Services Manager.
  • Maintaining cleaning standards – Check daily the cleanliness in all areas of boarding houses and classrooms, completing two detailed checks per week; manage any cleaning problems, laundry discrepancies and people‑management issues, escalating where necessary.
  • Boarding houses – Liaise daily with Matrons about any boarding‑house related problems including maintenance work; check the quality of bedding replacements (duvets, mattresses etc.) and the cleanliness of shower curtains, bath mats etc.
  • Health & Safety – Ensure correct usage of cleaning chemicals and that staff wear the correct PPE; verify compliance with COSHH and Health & Safety procedures; check stock levels of cleaning materials and manage stores (stock control/purchasing).

Key Skills and Experience

Experience (Essential)

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a housekeeping or cleaning department
  • Cleaning experience within a school, hospital, or residential care setting

  • Ability to conduct appraisals and induction training

  • Good MS Office skills
  • Ability to complete some administration tasks relating to checklists, invoices, and logging maintenance issues
  • Understanding of a boarding school or residential setting
