Project Director

Department: Building Fabric – Delivery

Employment Type: Full Time

Description

Harmony is on a mission to be the best life safety partner to work with and for. Rated an ‘Outstanding Employer’ by Best Companies in 2025, we are only getting bigger and stronger — and we’re looking for A-players to help us get there.

We are passionate about making a difference and obsessed with quality. Our goal is to build a world where every resident can sleep safely at night, knowing their home is 100% safe.

The Project Director — West Midlands is one of the most senior delivery roles in the business. Reporting to the Head of Delivery, you will own the delivery P&L for the West Midlands pod, lead a team of project managers, site managers and supervisors, and be Harmony’s most senior delivery presence in the region — visible to clients, credible on site and the face of how we deliver our promises in the West Midlands market. While we bring the West Midlands pod to life, you will work in a hybrid pattern — field-based across live projects in the region, with regular time at our Yeovil and London offices to plug into the wider delivery and pre-construction leadership team.

This is a leadership role at the heart of how Harmony turns won work into delivered work. It is about bringing the right energy, accountability and resilience to our mission of saving lives through fire and height safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery P&L for the West Midlands pod — revenue, GP, cost-to-complete and WIP — managing performance against monthly forecasts with precision.
  • Lead, develop and hold accountable a team of project managers, site managers and supervisors across a portfolio of passive fire and building fabric projects.
  • Act as Harmony’s most senior delivery presence in the West Midlands — visible to clients, credible on site and the face of our delivery capability in the region.
  • Own the clean handover from pre‑construction into delivery, working in lockstep with the Pre‑Construction Director to ensure every project starts well and finishes better.
  • Drive programme, quality and safety performance across every live project in the pod, intervening early when projects are off track.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, frameworks and key decision-makers at a senior level, resolving issues before they escape.
  • Run weekly forecasting, project reviews and risk management at pod level, reporting up to the Head of Delivery with a clear view of what’s green, amber and red.
  • Coach the pod’s next generation of delivery leaders — succession planning is part of the job, not an afterthought.
  • Contribute to wider business strategy as part of the delivery leadership group.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
  • Proven track record of leading a delivery function within passive fire, building fabric or a closely related specialist subcontract discipline.
  • Commercially sharp, with direct experience of owning a P&L and managing teams against revenue, margin and WIP targets.
  • Strong programme, quality and safety leadership across a multi‑project portfolio.
  • A natural leader who builds high‑performing teams and manages performance directly.
  • Excellent client‑facing skills, with the ability to operate credibly at senior levels and resolve issues before they escape.
  • Organised and rigorous in process, with an eye for detail on cost, programme and risk.
  • Based within commutable distance of our Dudley office, with the flexibility to travel across the West Midlands region as needed.
  • SMSTS, CSCS or equivalent senior site health and safety qualification.
  • Degree‑qualified or equivalent industry experience.

Benefits

This is a chance to lead delivery for one of Harmony’s key regional pods at one of the UK’s fastest-growing fire safety specialists — with real ownership of how we turn won work into delivered work across the West Midlands, and a senior seat at the table as we continue to expand nationally. At Harmony, we ask a lot — and we give a lot back. The hours are real, the standards are high and the work is demanding, but for those who show up, deliver and go the extra mile, the rewards follow. A-players here enjoy a competitive salary, a Personal Development Plan with ongoing training and leadership mentoring, unlimited holiday, a bonus scheme paying up to 50% of annual salary, private medical insurance, enhanced maternity and paternity, lunch, snacks and refreshments on us every day (fresh fruit and Takeaway Fridays included), a team social budget, cycle to work, an auto‑enrolment pension, two major company events a year and our Reward and Recognition scheme — including European mini‑breaks for those who go above and beyond. It is a collaborative, high‑energy environment focused on doing things the right way — technically, commercially and practically — and none of it is a perk for showing up; it’s what we share with the people pulling the business forward.

Harmony is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all applicants for employment regardless of age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief. We want everyone who works with us to feel valued and to make a difference.
