Job Description:

TPF Recruitment is supporting a highly reputable and growing accountancy practice in Eastbourne with the recruitment of an Accounts and Audit Manager or Senior Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional to join a collaborative and forward thinking firm, working with a varied client portfolio across audit, accounts, and tax compliance.

The role will be approximately 70% audit focused and 30% accounts and tax compliance work. This position would suit an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant, or an experienced AAT qualified professional, with at least four years’ practice experience including a minimum of three years within audit.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients including corporate groups, owner managed businesses, charities and not for profit organisations, as well as specialist assignments including CASS 5 and Solicitors Accounts Rules engagements.
  • Work closely with partners on client management, business development initiatives, and wider firm strategy.
  • Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and in line with professional and ethical standards.
  • Review statutory accounts preparation and corporation tax computations.
  • Build strong client relationships, understanding their businesses and key risks to deliver a high quality and proactive service.
  • Carry out audit file reviews, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality procedures.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, assisting with workflow management, training, and professional development.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and keep up to date with changes in audit and accounting legislation.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or AAT qualified with significant relevant experience.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience within an accountancy practice environment, including at least three years in audit.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Companies Act requirements, FRC Ethical Standards, UK GAAP FRS102, LLP SORP, and UK audit standards.
  • Experience managing audits and overseeing assignments from planning to completion.
  • Awareness of current developments and changes within audit and accounting legislation.
  • Experience using accountancy software including CCH, Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including reviewing work and supporting junior staff development.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a professional approach to client communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
