We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join a growing industrial engineering business.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Electrical Design professional with strong industrial electrical engineering experience to lead and manage electrical design activities across multiple bespoke engineering projects.The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality industrial electrical systems, working closely with Project Managers, production teams, procurement, installation engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within specification, and to the highest standards.The RoleAs Electrical Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the workload and priorities of the Electrical Design department across multiple live projects.
- Producing and reviewing detailed electrical engineering documentation including:
- Electrical schematics
- Single line diagrams
- Cable schedules
- Bill of Materials (BOMs)
- Panel layouts
- Load schedules
- Designing industrial electrical systems including:
- Lighting & small power
- LV distribution systems
- Cable containment systems
- Carrying out electrical calculations including:
- Cable sizing
- Load calculations
- Protection device selection
- Supporting projects through manufacture, FAT testing, installation, commissioning, and final delivery.
- Liaising with internal departments, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensuring all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Supporting technical reviews, document control processes, and regulated industry compliance requirements.
- Working directly with clients throughout the full design and build process.
Candidate RequirementsTo be considered for this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in Industrial Electrical Design Engineering.
- Previous experience in a senior or lead electrical design position.
- Strong knowledge of:
- LV power distribution systems
- Industrial controls
- Electrical system design
- Experience producing detailed electrical engineering documentation.
- Good understanding of Fire & Gas (F&G), HVAC, and security systems.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with specialist subcontractors.
- Experience using AutoCAD for electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of compliance standards and regulated engineering environments.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
Experience within manufacturing, industrial engineering, automation, or bespoke engineered systems environments would be highly advantageous.Salary & Benefits
- £50,000 – £55,000 depending on experience
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
