Strategic Account Lead (Retail & Consumer)

Wave Search is exclusively partnered with a fast-growing specialist consultancy operating at the intersection of retail, commerce, digital transformation, and technology services.

Following continued investment and expansion, the business is looking to hire a Strategic Account Lead to take ownership of a portfolio of key retail and consumer accounts.

This is not a passive account management role.

They are looking for someone commercial, proactive, and relationship-led — someone who can get close to customers, build senior stakeholder relationships, identify opportunity, and drive meaningful account growth.

The Opportunity

This organisation has built a strong reputation delivering complex transformation programmes across the retail and consumer space, supporting well-known UK and international brands with commerce strategy, digital services, technology transformation, managed services, and AI-enabled solutions.

The successful person will inherit several strategic accounts and will be responsible for growing revenue through a combination of account expansion, cross-sell, upsell, and opportunity creation.

This role would suit someone who enjoys operating commercially within existing accounts while still bringing the energy and mindset of a hunter.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing and growing a portfolio of strategic retail and consumer accounts

• Building senior stakeholder relationships, including up to C-suite level

• Identifying whitespace and expansion opportunities within existing customers

• Driving cross-sell and upsell opportunities across a broad services portfolio

• Supporting proposition development, pre-sales, and solution shaping

• Developing strategic account plans focused on long-term growth

• Acting as a trusted advisor to customers navigating retail transformation challenges

What They’re Looking For

• Strong strategic account management experience within retail and consumer sectors

• Proven track record of growing revenue across existing accounts

• Experience combining farming and hunting within named accounts

• Strong commercial instincts and opportunity-led mindset

• Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and decision makers

• Understanding of retail operations, supply chain, customer engagement, automation, data, and AI-led transformation initiatives

Location: Hybrid with business travel

Package: £100,000 – £120,000 Basic + Sales Incentive Plan + Benefits
