Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a MEP Senior Commercial Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
What you’ll be doing
- To play a key role in supporting the management of several Packages associated with the MEP scope for the project.
- To support the Project Commercial Director and wider project leadership team in the successful commercial delivery of complex MEP packages, ensuring robust commercial management across procurement, subcontract administration, change management, cost control and commercial reporting.
- To lead and develop the MEP commercial team in maximising commercial performance through effective management of subcontractors, supply chain partners and internal stakeholders whilst ensuring compliance with project Minimum Commercial Expectations.
- To ensure the commercial interests of the project are protected through proactive management of risk and opportunity, effective contract administration and strong stakeholder engagement across all project phases.
Who we’re looking for
- The role suits an individual with a proven track record in successfully managing commercial activities within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, with significant experience in MEP delivery and subcontract management.
- The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence across a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in managing complex subcontractor relationships, change control and commercial reporting within high-value projects is essential.
- The individual should demonstrate excellent commercial acumen, strong financial awareness and the ability to objectively assess project performance whilst supporting operational delivery teams in achieving project objectives.
- Experience within major projects, NEC forms of contract and managing multidisciplinary
- commercial teams is highly desirable.
