Private Client Solicitor or Locum

Location: Cardiff & Surrounding Areas, South Wales

Salary: Up to £55,000 (DOE)

Working Arrangement: Hybrid (initial on-site expectation)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Private Client Solicitor to join a locally renowned firm based in Cardiff. This is a close-knit, respected practice where clients are genuinely at the heart of everything they do. During a recent visit, a long-standing client dropped in unannounced and was welcomed with genuine warmth – an authentic reflection of the firm’s values and culture.

This role is perfect for someone looking to take real ownership of a private client caseload while being supported in progressing toward a Head of Department position. You’ll be trusted to shape the future of the private client offering and be part of a team that values both technical excellence and human connection.

The role will involve:

  • Handling a varied caseload of wills, probate, estate administration, trusts, and LPAs.
  • Advising clients on all areas of private client law with a practical and compassionate approach.
  • Working independently and making strategic decisions to help grow the department.
  • Maintaining and developing strong client relationships based on trust and care.
  • Playing a proactive role in the firm’s business development and local presence.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a qualified Private Client Solicitor with ideally 2+ years’ PQE.
  • Have solid technical knowledge across the full range of private client matters.
  • Bring confidence and initiative to work independently, while also being a team player.
  • Be personable and approachable, with excellent client care and communication skills.
  • Be enthusiastic about growing your career and taking on more responsibility.
