Overview
The Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience (PDN) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Research Laboratory Technician to support the research activities of Professor Amanda Sferruzzi‑Perri’s group. The Sferruzzi‑Perri Laboratory investigates how genetic and environmental factors influence fetal development, pregnancy, and long‑term health of both the mother and offspring, with a focus on the role of the placenta as a key mediator of these outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and operational leadership for the group’s expanding research programme, including hands‑on experimental work and laboratory leadership.
- Execute and support experiments using mouse models involving genetic and environmental manipulations, and a broad range of whole‑body, tissue, cellular, and molecular approaches.
- Assist complementary studies using cell and organoid cultures, human pregnancy samples, and clinical data to identify underlying mechanisms and support translation to human health.
- Manage animal colonies and oversee histological and molecular biology techniques.
Qualifications
- BSc level or higher in a life sciences discipline.
- Prior experience in an academic or industrial research setting.
- Experience managing animal colonies, and proficiency in histology and molecular biology techniques.
- Strong interest in developmental, pregnancy, and women’s health research.
Fixed‑term
The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.
