Job Description:

An established Essex-based construction company is seeking a temporary Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a new infrastructure project in Cambridge.

This is an excellent opportunity for a QS with a few years of experience who is confident working within NEC contracts and supporting live civil engineering projects.

Project DetailsProject Location: Ermine Street, Huntingdon, CambridgeProject Type: Carriageway widening works to accommodate a new footway/cyclewayContract Type: NEC4 Option CProject Duration: 32 weeksProject Value: Approximately £2 millionStart Date: 27 May 2026Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the commercial and contractual management of the project, including:

Cost management and forecastingManagement of subcontractor accountsValuations and payment applicationsCompensation event administration under NEC4Change control and commercial reportingAssisting with cost/value reconciliationSupporting project delivery teams with commercial mattersMaintaining accurate project records and documentationApplicants should ideally have:

A few years’ Quantity Surveying experience within construction or civil engineeringWorking knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly NEC4 Option CStrong commercial awarenessGood communication and organisational skillsAbility to work collaboratively with site and management teamsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard QS reporting processesDesirable ExperienceHighways or infrastructure project experienceExperience working on local authority or public realm schemesDegree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
