An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to support a growing portfolio of major infrastructure projects across the water and rail sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically strong environment offering long-term project work, hybrid flexibility and exposure to complex infrastructure schemes across regulated industries.

The Role

You will be responsible for producing geotechnical and civil engineering design deliverables, ensuring designs are completed safely, accurately and in line with technical standards and client requirements.

The role will also involve supporting junior engineers and coordinating design activities across multidisciplinary teams.

✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Produce geotechnical and civil engineering design calculations and drawings
  • Prepare GI specifications, interpretive reports and design reports
  • Ensure designs comply with technical, professional and group standards
  • Support and direct CAD technicians, graduates and junior engineers
  • Attend and present at IDC/KM7 meetings and technical reviews
  • Estimate design package hours and support delivery planning
  • Ensure design changes are fully implemented and recorded
  • Work within formal engineering and quality assurance procedures

About You

  • 10+ years’ design experience within geotechnical and/or civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations and reporting
  • Experience delivering projects within regulated infrastructure sectors
  • (rail, water, utilities, highways, nuclear or similar)
  • Strong technical design capability and problem-solving skills
  • Degree or HND qualified
  • Working towards Chartership or already professionally registered

⭐ Desirable Experience

  • Water or railway project experience
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Knowledge of GI methods, construction materials and engineering drawing practices
