Job Description Summary
The Director, Examination Development will manage the processes and activities necessary to develop the CFA examinations and certifications. The position works with internal staff members and external question writers dedicated to producing valid exams and reliable assessments to ensure candidate mastery of the knowledge, skills, and abilities targeted by the curriculum readings. In conjunction with other members of the team, this role implements a cohesive exam design across all CFA Institute credentialing programs. The position contributes directly to the mission of setting the highest standards of education and to the primary strategic objective of protecting and building the CFA brand.
Job Description
As a Director, Examination Development, you will have the opportunity to:
- Manage the efficient development of exam content by subject matter experts (SMEs) and exam question writers.
- Recruit and evaluate exam question writers.
- Collaborate with teams of Credentialing and other divisions to work on projects related to CFA Program, CIPM, and other educational programs of CFA Institute.
- Develop exam content for CFA Institute certificates and Credentials.
- Represent CFA Institute, the CFA Program and other educational programs of CFA Institute to external groups, including Societies, candidates, employers, regulators and prep course providers.
Qualifications
The skills and experience required for this role are:
- CFA charter is required.
- Undergraduate degree, preferably with an emphasis in finance; experience or knowledge of the investment management process with an understanding of practitioner interests and concerns.
- Assessment or credentialing experience is a strong plus.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a professional and diplomatic demeanor.
- Must be self‑directed, demonstrate a high level of initiative, be able to work independently, demonstrate an impressive work ethic, have a strong personal presentation, and anticipate needs of the business.
- Ability to interact confidently with both the practitioner and academic communities.
- High level of ability to work in a collaborative environment and familiarity with agile methods desirable.
- Flexibility in competently managing priorities and adjusting to change.
- Experience as a CFA Institute volunteer is desirable.
Salary
In compliance with the New York City salary disclosure law, the anticipated base salary for this role in NewYorkCity will range between $117,000 and $197,000. Salaries are determined based on candidate relevant experience and skills, as well as internal equity.
